Efan Electro Brings His Sound to Kendal Calling

Kendal Calling returned to Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District for its 20th anniversary, with a weekend of sunshine, great music, and a lineup that included Kaiser Chiefs, Courteeners, Fatboy Slim, and The Prodigy.

Among the many stages and hidden corners of the festival, Tim Peaks Diner stood out—a log‑cabin venue created by Tim Burgess of The Charlatans. Known for its mix of music, coffee, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s become a favourite spot for festival‑goers to discover something unique. For 10‑year‑old DJ Efan Electro, it was the perfect place to make his Kendal debut.

His day began with an interview with Chris Hawkins, where he spoke about his passion for DJing and what it meant to be part of such a major festival. Midway through, he jumped on the decks for a quick mini‑mix, seamlessly blending “Blue Monday” into “Mr Brightside.” The crowd inside Tim Peaks instantly joined in, singing along and turning the interview into an unexpected party that set the tone for the rest of the day.

Later that afternoon, Efan returned for his full set. Taking to the decks at 5:45 PM, he was sandwiched between a surprise performance from James Walsh of Starsailor and an energetic set from The Royston Club. By the time he started, Tim Peaks Diner was alive with excitement. Barriers were put in place, and even those outside pressed up to the windows, eager to see what was happening inside. For 45 minutes, Efan delivered a seamless mix of house classics and modern hits. Every transition landed perfectly, his timing was flawless, and he kept to the tight festival schedule with skill and focus well beyond his years. The energy in the room built with every track, and by the time the last song faded, the crowd was left calling for more.

They’ll get their chance soon enough. Efan’s next appearances will take him to Neuadd Ogwen, Lakefest, and The Oystercatcher, where he’s ready to bring the same passion and energy that lit up Tim Peaks Diner. Kendal Calling was a milestone, but for Efan Electro, it’s only the beginning.
